life is strange & unpredictable

For about a week now, this stray puppy has been wandering around the neighborhood. Some people brought him by last weekend asking if I knew who owned him and I didn't. He showed up again earlier this week and we put some food out for the little guy. He was so hungry that he didn't chew the adult sized kibbles, he swallowed them whole. We couldn't figure out if he was dumped by someone or if he ran away, because he did have a choke collar on but no tags. Either way we knew we had to get that collar off of him eventually or else it would choke him as he grew (and puppies grow REALLY fast).

Anyway, he's nervous and shy around people but not so much other dogs. We'd tried to coax him around with one of our own dogs but the puppy just kept running off. We went off to the mall today to get Christmas gifts and Mike stopped by a local vet for something that would drug the puppy enough to get his collar off. I know drugging him sounds bad but we'd tried EVERYTHING we could think of at that point. Anyway, we get back home and I look in the back yard to check on my own dogs...and chaos puppy is running around there with them. He had dug himself into my back yard to be with my dogs.

He was a lot more at ease seeing Mike and I interact with our dogs. I got him to come close enough to me that I could pet him some and get that choke collar off. It was pretty snug, probably would have been too tight in a week. So he's out of eminate danger for the moment and he's getting along great with my dogs.

We are NOT keeping this little guy. The base in Columbus has a two dog limit, so only Chessa and Toby are going with us; Meshu is going back up to Illinois to Mike's family (they can take care of him better on a farm than we could in a neighborhood). I really don't think he's owned by anyone, so I'm going to make some calls to a few adoption agencies and no-kill shelters in town to see if they can take him in. We can't foster this dog either, because we'll be moving so soon.

If anyone in the Macon/Warner Robins/Milledgeville area wants a *FREE* puppy, give me a call!!! He's male, not fixed (at least I don't think he is...I can see little balls between his legs O_O;;), looks like some sort of pit bull breed but I'm not sure. He's maybe 12-15 weeks old (guessing on this one) and he's shy but he just needs a little coaxing and patience. He does really well with other dogs, too. Give me a call or email if you're interested or know of anyone who may be!

Oddee's list of the 12 weirdest condoms ever made.
This one was my favorite...only because it looked like a hand puppet.

That's right kids.

A 12 year-old Norwegian boy saved his sister and himself from a moose attack using skills he picked up in the online role playing game 'World of Warcraft.' Hans Jurgen Olsen and his sister got into a spot of trouble when they encroached on the territory of one of these antlered cold weather staples (otherwise known as a moose). When the beast went on the offensive, Hans knew the first thing he had to do was taunt it so that it would leave his sister alone and she could run to safety. "Taunting" is a move one uses in World of Warcraft to get monsters off of the less-well-armored team members.

Once he was a target, Hans remember another skill he'd picked up at level 30 in 'World of Warcraft' -- he feigned death. The moose lost interest in the inanimate Hans and wandered off into the woods. When he was safely alone Hans ran back home to share his tale of video game-inspired survival.

He totally plays a hunter. I laughed so hard at this, btw.

Doing this meme from [info]criminalize .

Air Force
Ah, the Air Force. I love my husband but I really dislike his superiors. They've proven time and time again that they don't care for their subordinates, that they only care about getting that next rank up. Other wise, I can't complain because they do pay the bills. O_O;

Astronomy
Ah I love astronomy! I don't understand most of it (the math parts) but star gazing is something I always liked doing. We even had a small telescope we got for Christmas one year and it's still at my parent's house. I saw freakin' JUPITER through that thing. It isn't super powered but I saw enough of Jupiter to see a couple of pin point sized moons and a really faint ring. I took an astronomy class in college and we used these HUGE telescopes that took like two people to carry, haha. I'll never forget when I saw Saturn. It was amazing. I felt so incredibly small at that moment. I think that's why I like astronomy so much. It really puts your place in the universe in perspective.

Catholicism
I'm not sure what to say about this one. I was raised Catholic, and will probably bring my children up the same way. Of course if they decide to go another route later in life, I can't do anything about that. I just hope they choose for the right reasons. Anyway, I enjoy my religion for the most part. It's the oldest denomination of Christianity there is (tho some would argue that Byzantine Catholicism is older than Roman Catholicism...it's all the same to me) and the fact that our "rituals" have mostly gone for 2000 years unchanged is pretty awesome. I really dislike when people get these misconceptions about Catholics though. That we worship statues, we're cannibals, that we have more than one God....no no no NO. I want to punch these ignorant people in the face when they start spouting off misconceptions about my religion before even doing the slightest bit of research.

Illustrator CS
This program is great for vectoring. However it's been a thorn in my side lately because I can't seem to get it to run on my computer at home and my computer at work. I'm disappointed in your programming skills, Adobe. Fix this. Other wise, Illustrator is what I use whenever I have to do ANY vectoring. In college, I started using Freehand, but Illustrator was much simpler to use, I think.

Tattoos
I like tattoos. I don't mind seeing others with them. I have a couple of my own, but I don't know if I'll get any more. Maybe that <3 that I like, but that would probably be it. I know one day I'll have to explain to my kids what the weird drawings that won't come off my body are.

Web design
I enjoy web design. I don't enjoy web coding though, but programs like Dreamweaver and FIreworks have made my life much easier. I used to code by hand directly into Notepad. I probably couldn't do that now with out some reference, haha, but at least I have that foundation. I miss doing silly web design for character sites and other dumb things I can come up with. :'(

WoW
Sucked away almost two years of my life and I don't regret it haha XD. I'm kind of absent from the game now (mostly because I'm exhausted in the evening and for some reason it triggers motion sickness that I didn't have before I got preggo) but I'd like to play again. I like MMORPGs. The first one I ever played was, omg, Ragnarok Online. XD HA I started that game in college and would spend HOURS playing. It was great. WoW was the second MMORPG. I'm eyeing Aion Online now, debating on whether I'd like to try that one out, because it looks beautiful. Unfortunately it's only available on Windows machines, so that means I have to figure out how to connect our PC to the internet again before I can think about playing.

Dogs
Dogs are so dumb, LOL. And I say that with total affection. I love my doggies, but I have to be in a certain mood to play with them. I need to be in the "I don't care if my clothes get ruined and I have three dogs trying to lick my face simultaniously" mood. They're protective though, and know when you're feeling down and know exactly how to comfort you. My dogs are crazy and I get a lot of entertainment watching them do their doggie things in my back yard.
